This unique historic space used to be an organ and piano retail company built in 1890. It soon caught on among the local musicians, that it was a great place to jam. The 3 large ballrooms were packed during the 30's and 40's. A sculpture artist bought it in the late 60's and turned it into Gallery 1708. He passed away in the late 90's when the present owner bought it for a steal from the executor. With all it's elegance and space no one had ever bothered to put running water or upgrade the electricity on the 2nd floor. Until two years ago when Maguire Neblett decided to build the "NYC photographers dream studio" in downtown Richmond, Va. She built and designed the kitchen, bathrooms and closets while putting in new wiring, plumbing and a whole lot more.
